PETER’S LAST STOP IS THE GREAT DEPRESSION.
When I was 15, I wanted to join the circus. There was something about traveling from place to place with a family of artists, performing your grandest passion for adoring audiences, drinking up the wonder in their eyes, then moving onto the next town. It was a little dirty compared to the clean suburban world that I lived in, but somehow that made it so intriguing.
The circus of the 1930’s was at its most innocent, and the performers were the rockstars of their day. I started this book before our own economic demise. It was a time of gross materialism and greed. One couldn’t help but wonder when the bubble would burst. It reminded me of the Great Depression. It only seemed right to take Peter to a place in history where the dizzying desire for excess had crushed the nation to its lowest low.
I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it!
